I have been working hard the last few weeks to re-organize and decorate my kitchen and give it a warm farmhouse feel. With just a few hours, I put together this little decorative tray that I think really adds a special touch!
I started with a wooden tray that I had purchased at A.C. Moore a few years back. I originally had begun painting it with black chalkboard paint, but I didn’t like how dark it was turning out to be. Instead, I chose to paint the inside with navy blue chalk paint and the outside with dark gray acrylic paint (I actually mixed black and white acrylic paint together).
When the paint dried, I wrapped white jute around each of the handles and secured it with hot glue. I really like how fresh and clean it looked with these colors!
I positioned the tray on my kitchen island and staged it with three LED pillar candles that I had gotten for Christmas and a bunch of great finds from the Dollar Tree. I found two different-sized glass bottles. I filled the larger bottle with oil and rosemary and the smaller bottle with red wine vinegar. I then added two filled salt and pepper shakers, some decorative balls, and a faux succulent that I purchased as well.
This was a super simple way to add a little bit more farmhouse charm to our kitchen, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. It is also really nice that it is a moveable piece we can use either on our island or at our dining room table.
I’d love to know what you think in the comments below! If you decide to make your own tray, I’d love to see your finished project. Be sure to tag me on Facebook or Instagram using @onecraftatatime so I can see your final project.
Happy crafting!
